  SDHMA About Us

The Hotel-Motel Association's main focus is to address important issues affecting the hospitality industry. We feel strongly the Transient Occupancy Tax should be maintained at a reasonable rate and be used to promote and market the San Diego area. HMA also is involved in large events to ensure a positive impact on the hotel industry.

One of the benefits HMA offers hotels and motels is using our office as a resource center. Our staff will do their best to assist you with any questions or problems you may have regarding your properties.

The mission of the San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association is to serve the needs of our members with resources and communication on education, technology, human relations and other industry issues; and to provide advocacy and representation on legislative and regulatory issues at all levels of government.

The Association also represents the viewpoints of the lodging industry to the public through a positive public relations campaign focusing on the local news media outlets.

Monthly meetings, open only to Association members, are held at different member properties throughout the year except in August. Programs featuring educational presentations on subjects of concern to managers and operators are scheduled for all meetings. Another feature of the meetings is the Allied Speaker Program which allows allied members to give a short presentation on their companies.

A Gold Key awards program, designed to encourage excellence and promote quality throughout the lodging industry, is held annually.

Close contact is maintained with the California Hotel/Motel Association and the American Hotel and Motel Association.
